We all have a variety of passions. My professional passions happen to be surrounding SQL Server as a data platform and the number of attendant technologies that associate with it. In addition, I’ve been a Mathematica user for a number of years; I’ve even taken a course on it in college. In general, I have a passion about mathematics. This blog is my work to bring it all together.

In my own personal research, I’ve found there’s very few resources out there that bring these technologies together. I believe that SQL Server and Mathematica will be two great tastes that taste great together.

It’s my objective to bring SQL Server to Mathematica users and vice versa. That means I’ll be writing for two discrete crowds: database administrators and developers that haven’t used Mathematica very much as well Mathematica users that may have never used it to against a database backend.

I’m excited to see where this blog leads! I’ll be starting it off with a couple of, “Getting Started” posts to help users prepare their computing environment. I’ll begin with a quick guide to installing SQL Server 2008 and getting the Adventure Works databases downloaded and installed. I’ll follow up with another guide on getting Mathematica set up and how to connect it to SQL Server.

It’s my intent to have strong, meaty posts every two weeks. I haven’t yet decided whether or not I’ll also make smaller posts as well. We’ll see! Thanks for joining me; I look forward to interacting and learning with you.

Bonjour!
